Hessian
Career Highlights

The ancestry of Hessian goes back to the 18th century. During the American Revolution, England sought resources from the German state of Hesse-Cassel in the form of 17,000 Hessian soldiers, over the course of eight years. Amongst the 17,000 was Hessian’s grandfather’s, grandfather’s, grandfather’s grandfather, making Hessian himself a 9th Generation Mercenary. This man was a great warrior, and killed many men in the Revolution. His name was Baron Gunter Von Kelsig. He was a Junker from Prussia; of course he was only a Junker through bloodline, being a "Von".

He went against his father’s word to become a Hessian, and joining a statistic of 3,014 Hessians claimed to have deserted the cause or gone missing, settled in Pennsylvania and set up a new life after the long fight. Of course Baron Günter did not desert the cause, but rather completed the duties required of him and simply vanished to make a new life for himself, and chase the American dream. That dream slowly became reality as with the little English he was taught in his preparations he met a young, healthy woman, and shortly thereafter marriage ensued.

To skip a couple of generations, Hessian’s grandfather and grandmother were Harold and Margot Kelsig, who moved to Detroit with their son, Hessian’s father, Jack Kelsig. Hessian’s father grew up to become a successful businessman, a jack of all trades. He built his family’s estate in Detroit. He met Hessian’s mother; Janet and then on the 24th October 1971 a baby boy by the name of Angelus Von Kelsig was born.

The Hessian we know today came to be back on 24th October 1996, exactly on his 25th birthday. Over the years prior to this date, Hessian’s father had been an adamant gambler, a cruel twist in his otherwise textbook dream lifestyle. The usual routine for his life changed drastically; work, drink, sleep, eat, mate and gamble. While Janet Kelsig spent her days as a happily married housewife, cleaning the large stately mansion and enjoying the married life, Jack would spend his well-earned wages as a stock broker buying luxuries for his family, spending it on himself, but even worse feeding his addiction of Gambling.

The mistake Jack made was a ‘business trip’ away from town…to Las Vegas. As Janet spent the weekend entertaining guests, Jack Kelsig flushed away his wage, and furthermore over ¾ of his life savings, including the deed to his family house. Of course upon return the guilt set in, and in looking for ways to get back all he had lost, Jack stupidly continued gambling to get it back, but still failed. Janet became increasingly suspicious of Jack’s behaviour, and as the last string of opportunity rode off into the sunset, Jack turned to the absolute final chance…a loan shark.

As with every city, the seedy-underbelly soon surfaced and Jack soon found a ‘company’ owned by an even seedier character; James Carlisle. Jack was successfully granted an exceptionally large sum of money by Mr. Carlisle, however as the weeks passed, and he went on trying to get the loan shark his money back, that awful day came when the phone rang in the Kelsig Mansion.

"Hello, Kelsig residence, this is Jack Kelsig, how may I help you?"

"Hello Mr. Kelsig, this is Mr. Carlisle. I believe I requested you to have me my money around about a week ago, care to explain the delay?"

"Uh, Mr. Carlisle you’ll have your money paid back in full plus extra by this time next week! I promise, I just need seven more days!"

"I’m sorry Mr. Kelsig, I don’t have time to spare, I’m a very busy man you see. We entered into an agreement upon the transaction, an agreement you have just fallen out of. Expect a little visit just shortly………"

The phone went dead and Jack began praying, for the next day would be an interesting one to say the least.

On that night of 24th October, Hessian’s birthday, James Carlisle and associates paid the Kelsig estate a visit. With the heartless toss of a Molotov Cocktail into an upstairs window the mansion went up in flames, the entire family trapped in the inferno as Mr. Carlisle smiled sadistically from the shadows.

Young Angelus managed to escape the house, too disoriented to think what to do other than that. Not really knowing what had happened, the young Kelsig boy stumbled outside and saw them all, peering from behind their tinted glasses and smiling; black suits, batons, and the most evil of looks in their eyes. Running on instinct, the 6’10" and 320lbs Kelsig boy rampaged towards the loan shark and his thugs, immediately throwing himself into four of them and sprawling to the ground. In the struggle Angelus managed to spill some blood, but the numbers factor became apparent.

Of course he was beaten down and battered. His once handsome looks had been taken from him as a focused attack left ugly scars on his face and left him barely conscious, unable to get up or call for help. From the very same shadows Carlisle had watched the demise of Angelus’ family, a mysterious figure emerged, having watched this brutal attack as it unveiled into a massacre. This stranger studied Angelus for some time, and finally arranged for some medical help for him.

After what seemed like an eternity in rehabilitation, Angelus recovered, he had healed fully. Torn ligaments, stab wounds, fractures and welts sustained from the onslaught had all healed up. Time passed and Angelus was back to 100%. Sadly his entire family had been wiped out in the horrifying blaze, however his saviour had kept a vigil over this man. This man who had saved Angelus’ life eventually approached him and offered to provide for him, take care of him, even adopt him and rather strangely…train him.

Angelus wondered what this man meant by training and soon found out, as the two embarked on a quest spanning a number of years…to create the Hessian we know today. His saviour had seen promise in the stature and mind of the young lad, and so began the mentoring process. The years slowly passed and Hessian was given said name, and a whole new attitude. His mentor had warped his mind and now wanted to test his skills in the wrestling world. Hessian questioned the reason for him being told to wrestle, but his mentor insisted that from his background, Hessian would love it.

Hessian's wrestling career began with 2 weeks in the Primetime Wrestling Academy without a match, a 5 month stint in the NTICW, which went very successfully for the Satanic Monster, seeing the 7’ Hessian capture NTICW U.S. Gold twice, and then moving to and wrestling for a couple of months in PCW, earning a Rising Star No.1 Contender spot. Shortly after PCW Shanghaied 2, Hessian met a fellow beast in Azrael Cain, and the two aligned to venture into the OSW as a dominating force. After a few months however the team disintegrated, though Hessian continued on his journey through OSW alone, slaying and destroying as he went. During his time in Old School Wrestling, Hessian claimed the lives of his tag team partner Azrael Cain, PCW legend "The Reverend" Jon Hull, and his own mentor…Vampir Nosferatu…or so he thought. As a Hardcore entity, Hessian was rivalled by few in the promotion.

After a whirlwind career in OSW, Hessian faked his own death, resurfacing a few weeks later under the guise of "The Wanted Man" Angelus Jones in a bid to punish and torment his bastard father Clyde. Seemingly returning from the grave almost a year after he had "died", Hessian captured the OSW Hardcore title from Clyde at OSW’s final show "EndGame", defeating Clyde in true hardcore fashion. After the cheques stopped rolling in, The Mercenary of Satan took himself and his pint-sized manager Minion the Imp to a new battle ground…namely Rush Pro Wrestling.

Once in RPW, the shit hit the fan. It was revealed that along with Hessian's hiring, his Bloodline family in Clyde and Nerezza were also brought into the company. Immediately the three tangled, and after a brutal feud clashed in one of Hessian's specialities: a Weapon of Choice match. In this punishing affair Nerezza pulled out the win...but Hessian pulled out Clyde's heart. The most sadistic creature in RPW, Hessian soon became hindered due to insurance worries and was confined to the realm of generic hardcore weaponry and pitiful opponents, with the exception of Violence Jack.

Perhaps one of the most shocking moments in Hessian's career came after his winning the PTC Global Championship. Minion had been lazy in the months prior and filled with a venomous ego, Hessian took great pleasure in telling his long-time friend and manager...that he was fired. Going it alone, Hessian lost the PTC Global Title and went on another rampage. Unfortunately the time came when RPW had to close, the fourth federation Hessian had been a part of until the end, and with no place to go the Mercenary of Satan looked back to the land he had once conquered...PTC. Of that community, he hand-picked one federation to suffer Eternal Damnation...

PRIME.

The battle was hellish and the outcome severe, but with Hessian's only focus in PRIME being Vampir Nosferatu; his mentor and nemesis, what else was to be expected. Driven towards the demise of his creator, Hessian was shocked to find out that Vampir had vanished after a fatal impact with the bottom of an elevator shaft...and while it served as a means to an end, it was not the means Hessian had in mind. Considering the events that have transpired is it so easy to say Vampir is gone, or that Hessian intended for fate to rear its beautifully grotesque face in such a manner?

...

Von Kelsig found true love in the time before Hessian came to PRIME, at the tail end of 2006 to be precise. Von Kelsig, attempting to lead a normal life away from the ring had acquired a property with help of an investment from one Bruce Shanahan. Renovating the old office building into a nightspot for the perverse, Von Kelsig successfully ran the business through the year until one day he was kidnapped by thugs working for a man named Reuben Blanco.

Blanco, he later discovered, was a big time player in the drug trafficking and illegal armaments trades in South America, looking to expand operations to the States. The reason for his kidnapping? Blanco employed a number of loan sharks to help fund his operations, one of which was a James Carlisle, a man Von Kelsig had crossed years before and done out of a substantial sum of money. Thus, looking to reclaim the lost money Blanco held Von Kelsig against his will in his Detroit safehouse.

What followed was several weeks of torture, taking the form of Von Kelsig effectively being force-fed heroin and other hallucinogenics while Blanco demanded he return his money, be it in bank notes or the deeds to his nightclub property. His methods ensured Von Kelsig would either comply, or die on the outside. Von Kelsig never faltered however, refusing to cooperate under such circumstances and give in to such a heinous man.

It was at this time he first laid eyes on Gloria Carmichael, a runner for Blanco. She was an emaciated, track-ridden junkie with wily white hair and sunken eyes. Seeing her as his only way out, Von Kelsig romanced her with the idea of a better life outside of the hell she was living. Being promised so much by such a symbol of power such as he was, Gloria aided Von Kelsig in his escape and together they fled Blanco's clutches thanks in part to one Tyler Rayne, completely by coincidence. They promptly disappeared, out of sight out of mind.

Their first struggle was to overcome the addiction to the drugs Blanco had supplied, an uphill struggle that they eventually conquered thanks to a spell in a rehabilitation clinic. Walking out clean and truly free from Blanco's wrath, Angelus Von Kelsig and Gloria Carmichael set about making a life for themselves, travelling for a while before settling in Memphis, Tennessee. While he got back to wrestling the indy circuit in a bid to make money, Gloria picked up two jobs working as a salon receptionist and took part time shifts working in a bar. Being clean for so long led to her tidying up her appearance and turning from a scabby ghoul to a sultry looking female. They soon fell in love.

Two years passed had passed since Von Kelsig had been kidnapped and subjected to the unspeakable horror he faced, when he made the decision to contact PRIME, the last company he worked for before going on hiatus. Thanks to a little intervention from the influential Rayne Man, Hessian was hired with no mention of his previous indiscretions and once again the Murder Show rolled on.

Juggling the rigours of a life on the road with a blossoming relationship was always going to be tough. Being gone for so long, Gloria eventually found companionship in the form of her salon boss â€" Larry DeLancy. This led to her questioning her being with Von Kelsig, who regardless of his stature and wealth seemed hesitant to quit life in the ring to settle down and start a family.

But let's face it. Hessian will never die. It was always clear which path Von Kelsig would take, he just hoped he'd never have to walk that lonely road again. The Murder Show rolls on.

2009 was the Year of Hessian without a doubt. After returning from a three year hiatus he asserted himself at the top of the food chain by relentlessly dominating in every single match he participated in, losing in singles action only to Snow, Chandler Tsonda and Jonathan Rhine respectively, three legends in their own rights. At Colossus VI he proved his dominance yet again by beating Wyatt Connors and Desade for the PTC Elite Title, after having previously won the PTC Global Title a couple of years beforehand, proving that he belongs in the top echelon of wrestling talent.

The latter quarter of the year saw the giant's luck turn for the worse on the spin of a dime. After his ex-fiance was murdered on the night of his Elite Title win the Murder Show then went on to lose the PTC belt against Brandon Youngblood in his first defence. After that he went on to lose multiple matches and opportunities presented to him, most notably a three-match loss to Tony Gamble over the course of the quarter.

In the first quarter of 2010 the loss continued with the addition of immense physical and mental abuse at the hands of Chainz, which saw Hessian put on the injured reserve list after a battering at a ReVolution taping. Upon his return however Hessian sought revenge and took it at Colossus VII where he dealt out the beating of a lifetime to the Monster from Hell's Kitchen.

Following that conquest the Murder Show found himself in the heavyweight title scene for the first time in his career. Against Castor V. Strife the Murder Show would compete for the Universal Championship, and at the ReVolution 234 super-show he did just that, becoming PRIME Universal Champion.
