Big Bear
Career Highlights
Mike Munson took a pledge to himself, a friend, and his idols - Hogan, Flair, the Funks, and the Ultimate Warrior â€" to turn wrestling into its former self; a revered and celebrated, entertaining delight to the world. He began training with his friend, known today as Diamond Dustin Richards in the GWF, at the age of ten. They have been climbing the ladder the way their idols would; crushing opponents with skill and entertaining thousands from their small town home in Bear Creek, Alaska all the way down the west coast.
Munson entered the CGA as a senior in high school and impressed many instantly. His size was intimidating, he was disciplined in the craft of grappling, and ultimately â€" he was entertaining. A few different personas he wrestled under were Monsoon, Big Bear Munson, and Mike Munson. Soon, the entire high school was going to the Saturday night shows that were the CGA. Munson was leaping off turnbuckles, diving through the ropes, and crashing through tables in front of his entire student-body. He won "Most Likely to be Famous" for his skills, persona, and overall charm. Runner up was his tag team partner, DDR.
Munson graduated high-school then joined the CGA full-time for three years. In July 2000, Munson joined the JWW in Jackson, Wyoming. He only stayed for five weeks; the company was short on funds and talent, they soon closed. In his time there wrestling as MMM; Munson accumulated 8 wins, and most importantly â€" the JWW Superstar Title. He was asked to return the belt when the company went under.
After that, DDR gave his dear friend a ring and they both joined up and were known as the "Devine Flight" in the GWF for two years, Munson wrestling under the name ‘Monsoon’. They won the Team Belts three times, and each held the World Title twice â€" feuding for a short time over it was one of the GWF epic battles. They remain friends, though and are on good terms.
Munson has often talked about "needing to better expose himself." Really putting his nose to the grindstone, he has worked on his form for the past two years â€" preparing himself for the biggest stage in wrestling â€" PRIME time.
