Nova
Career Highlights
NOTE: There exists no entirely accurate record of Nova's career wins and losses in the various establishments he frequented before arriving in PRIME. Said establishments, while important, nay, vital to the growth of Nova's professional development, unfortunately did not share the stability of a tSC in their attempts to preserve the histories and materials of their respective federations after officially closing their doors. Nova's own personal records of matches, promos, etc., over time, have been several times lost and destroyed, at this point almost irretrievable. What follows is an account, from memory, of Nova's life and career. Post historical account, there exists a statistical record, as best as Nova has been to compile, of his matches in the federations where such records have found, including his most recent ventures in PRIME and PTC.
Nova was adopted as a baby by a couple in their fifties no longer able to have children. They raised him as their own, in the hippie-ish, open-minded lifestyle they had acquired from the 60s and early 70s. Unlike most other wrestlers, Nova had no family problems growing up. He didn't have an alcohol-addled, abusive step-dad who raped his prom date or any of that. Life was good, and he enjoyed it.
Nova grew up with his best friend and long-time tag team partner Zach *last name withheld* in an asswater town that Nova never named outright. After they finished high school, they didn't go off to college, and Nova one day decided that the only way to escape the monotony and eventual unavoidable hum-drum of small-town life was to enroll in wrestling school.
The team of Supernova (as Nova was officially dubbed then) and SWAT (the moniker adopted by his friend), collectively known as Lethal Enforcement, had undeniable chemistry, and through their talents and fed-jumping Nova became acquainted with Razor Blade, an undefeated wrestling legend. When Razor retired and opened Advantage Wrestling, Nova signed on after having floundered for over a year, out of the wrestling loop. From there, he sky-rocketed and found his niche, becoming in a very short amount of time a force to be reckoned with, allying himself with Big Poppa and Sapphire, two other stars on the rise on AW. Nova's relationship with SWAT deteriorated under the stresses of his success and SWAT's inability to replicate his talents on the independent scene, and at AW's Redemption PPV, SWAT issued his friend an ultimatum...to choose between his new friends and his old partner. Angered and betrayed, Nova made his decision violently apparent by flattening SWAT with the very chair he had threatened to use on Nova, and Big Poppa tossed the admittedly bulkier member of Lethal Enforcement through the AW announce table (doing that was very much in fashion in those days). Collectively, as Disorderly Conduct, Nova, Big Poppa, and Sapphire remained at the top of the heap in AW, battling it out week after week with Jake Keeton's Standard (comprised of Keeton himself, Chris Rickter, and Teemu McCorde). Unfortunately, AW closed its doors before Nova could culminate his rise to top (Big Poppa and Jake Keeton had dominated the World Title scene, and Rickter and Nova were labelled as the next in line to move up).
It was during this transitional period in Nova's career in November of 2002 that he met 'Spectacular' Sean Page, a follower of Nova's work in AW. The two hit it off, and for a brief period, Nova and Sapphire considered joining NEW as a tag team, since the division at that time in NEW was in need of some help. Loyalty won out in the end, however, and Nova signed on for Triad Wrestling, a system of three competitive federations run by Nova's best friend Big Poppa of First Blood Wrestling, 'The Solution' Jake Keeton of Power Surge Wrestling, and Jayson Phoenix of the Xtreme Wrestling Coalition. Nova went number one overall in the Triad draft to Big Poppa's FBW.
It was in FBW that Nova got his first taste of a real World Title, and also the biggest defeat of his entire career. In January, Nova waged an hour-long war at Triad's first PPV Genesis with 'Tha 1 and Only' Rock Startling for the Triad Legendary Title, and lost. About a month later, Nova won FBW's Gold Title, its equivalent of a World Title. In FBW, he allied himself with the McCorde brothers, Teemu and Brent, in the 2003 rendition of the Untouchable Renegades. FBW was also where he met Ariel Martiarra, a lawyer living in Seattle, WA.
FBW shut its doors after the HUGE Triad Sin City Showdown Pay-Per-View in March of 2003. Nova signed on with XwC and also married his girlfriend Ariel.
Triad, renamed the AWN (Alliance Wrestling Network), fell on hard times and closed, after a disappointing finish to a King of the Deathmatch Tournament that would have seen Nova as it's champion had the final match been allowed to air (his opponent, representing the Brutal Fighting Federation (BFF) was none other than a re-tooled, fitter, more motivated SWAT...still no match for our boy >=)). It was around this time that Razor Blade reopened AW, and Nova signed on intent to make good on that World Title shot he never got before. In May of 2003, he defeated his arch-rival Rock Startling and his best friend Big Poppa to capture, at long last, AW's World Title.
A week later the federation closed, and Nova disappeared...until July of that year, when Sean Page contacted him about joining up in the ranks of New Era Wrestling. Nova decided that a change of scenery would be nice. He aligned himself with Page and his cohorts (Derek Lowe and Jamie Zero) and joined their stable, The Forsaken. Nova first appeared on NEW television handling Sean Page's dirty work, attacking 'Clean Cut' Craig Clayborn, leading many to believe that Nova was Page's lackey. In the following months, Nova would prove them wrong, battling the likes of Craig Clayborn, Billy McStoner, Mr. Synnester, Sean Page (after The Forsaken crumbled with the burnt-out team of Derek and Jamie (Communication Breakdown) and Sean's descent into insanity after losing his World Title), Nova's friend-turned-nemesis Razor Blade (that matched awarded Razor his first ever tie), and others, along with a slew tag matches. Although his tag record was blotchy (sidenote: Nova was only pinned himself in one of them, after Page abandoned him at ringside), Nova never suffered a defeat in singles competition.
Toward the end of the year, Big Poppa, Sapphire, and Teemu McCorde convinced Nova to join Empire Wrestling, where Big Poppa was inflammed in a war with Razor Blade, who still held bitter feelings towards his former friends. Nova leapt into the fray, suffering two disappointing losses to Razor in the process, while at the same time enjoying the adulation of the AW-conscious fanbase.
In December of 2003, Neil Fracas set Nova up, revealing drugs in his duffel bag to Cannon, Rage TV CEO. Cannon threatened Bryan Chase with a lawsuit, and Chase suspended Nova indefinitely. His stint in Empire finished after the company's premature closure, Nova focused on his new career in AWv3 as the still-reigning World Champion, defending his belt for approx. three months, the longest reign yet in the company. At the same time, himself, Teemu McCorde, Sapphire, and Big Poppa, collectively known as the Supreem Regime, dominated the new incarnation of AW, holding every title between them for most of their tenure there (Razor had somewhat come to terms with them...at least to the point of co-existence). An old face from AW's past re-emerged in Creature, and his PIMP Industries Clan sought a war that the Regime was willing and able to give them. Twice, Nova successfully retained his World Title in competition against Creature, breaking Jake Keeton's record for longest AW World Title reign.
In February of 2004, Creature brutally destroyed Nova's leg with 'The Knocker,' (a piece of brick attached to a baseball bat) after their third and final PPV confrontation. Nova exited the wrestling industry to heal, and Advantage Wrestling soon shut its doors.
In May-June of 2004, Nova briefly joined Era of Destruction Wrestling, but felt unmotivated and rushed to compete. Shortly after arriving, he left the company...before even having a match.
And in August of 2004, just over a year after joining NEWv4, Nova returned to NEW to sign a contract with it's new owner...'Clean Cut' Craig Clayborn, the same man Nova had clobbered with a chair upon entering NEW a year ago.
Craig's leadership revitalized the company and brought in other stars to help boost NEW back to where it had once been. Nova worked hard and quickly re-established himself as one of the top guns in the company, beating Sean Page for a second time to capture the NEW National Title, and finally dropping 'Supernova' as his moniker, adopting the name he had always gone by unofficially...'Nova.' At the same time, Nova met a woman, Liza Davis, who enlisted his help in writing a book about professional wresting. Success would be short-lived, however, as Craig would give up ownership of the company. Bryan Chase returned in an attempt to keep NEW afloat, but the company soon folded.
In the midst of the chaos of NEW's closing, Nova's world was turned upside-down as his friend Liza set him up on charges of attempted rape and assault and battery after baiting him to come up to her hotel room to see proofs of some chapters from the new book. Ariel, upon finding out the charges, questioned Nova about his fidelity and learned that once upon a time, back in the days of his involvement with the Forsaken, he had cheated on her. Not believing now that he was innocent of the charges, she filed for divorce, gaining, circumstantially, rights to their house in Detroit and a restraining order against Nova for their infant girl, Lulu.
Emotionally crushed, Nova entered into hiding in a small, run-down apartment across town. One night, in a drunken stupor, he set out to murder Liza, the cause of all his problems, only to stopped by his old enemy, Sean Page. Sean prevented the murder and eventually told Nova of his and Brad Daddy's (an old associate of both men) plans to sign with PRIME. Nova reluctantly agreed.
Their timing could not have been better. Shortly after the trio were accepted, the floodgates opened at PTC and talented, qualified applicants such as Karina Wolfenden, Tessa Windsor, and The HIT began piling up on the waiting list to get in. Despite the challenge of fresh competition, Brad would quickly fizzle out. Angered over Nova's opposition to underhanded tactics, Sean Page laid him out with a chair on ReVolution 49 and terminated his own career with PRIME.
Nova was wounded and alone...but not for long. In his second match, he would set a PRIME record by winning the 5-Star Title. Using his new-found momentum, Nova set out to make a name for himself in uncharted territory.
'The new PRIME,' they called it, and for good reason. The company had literally been transformed inside a few months from a reputable, competitive federation into one of the mammoths of the industry with the continuing arrival of top names, among them Nova's long-time best friend Big Poppa, and his old ally-turned-nemesis, Razor Blade, who quickly buried the hatchet with both AW Hall of Famers, allowing for an unlikely reunion of the trio inside the walls of PRIME...
...but not for long, as Culture Shock 2005 was to be the site of an earth-shattering betrayal. After losing the 5-Star Title to a man Nova challenged to the match, Hoyt Williams, Big Poppa revealed to him what had that very night been sent to Nova in a letter from the woman who had betrayed his trust and purported fraudulent misdeeds on his part, Liza Davis...that it was Big Poppa, with the aid of Razor Blade, who had paid off Liza to rig the allegations against Nova and wreck his personal life.
Why? Why would Nova's closest friends and oldest allies turn against him? Big Poppa purported maniacally that the whole plot had been designed and executed to rid Nova of Ariel, the only person coming between their friendship. He believed he had done his old friend a favor...or so he claimed. Nova knew the truth, that Big Poppa's life had gone to shit, his old glory days long gone, his last days in AW spent under the shadow of Nova's success. And Sapphire had left him. To Nova, the real motives appeared all too clear. The conflict some thought would never happen finally occurred, as over the course of a month, Big Poppa, Razor Blade, and Nova waged war on one another. Two weeks before the Ultra Violence PPV, Nova got what had alluded him for four years...a clean victory over Razor Blade. RFB disappeared, and at the PPV, Nova defeated Big Poppa, severing all ties with his former best friend. Like Razor, Poppa disappeared.
Bunches of other crazy shit happened next, like me realizing that this so far hasn't even been that great of a story (my angles kind of sucked back in the day, huh?), and to continue when I haven't included anything from, oh, I dunno...the last two years of me actually finding my stride, would suck mad balls not only for me...but for you, the reader.
And reader, you're what this is all about.

Not only does Nova have no recollection of what this acronym means, but he can't actually remember ever having been there. Razor once told him that he was a member of his feared Total Fucking Anarchy (T f'n A) stable during his stint with the company...but Nova draws a complete blank for this apparent time in his career. Too many drugs!
