Trashcan Man
Career Highlights

An infant was found in New Hampshire by an old Catholic priest by the name of Father Callabryn in 1978, lying next to what would presumably be the infant's dead parents, both shot in the head. The priest hid the child and called the authorities. The bodies were never identified, and the child was never reported. Naming the child Michael, Father Callabryn took him in as a ward and raised him. Father Callabryn was apparently unbalanced, evidence of this was found in the journals locked away in his safe after his death. He wrote of a demon possessing young Michael, and would whip him and isolate him. He would also thrust the young boys hands into a fireplace, trying to drive the demon out. In 1989, firefighters and police found the 11 year old Michael wandering outside of the burning church, moaning that he didn't do it, it was the evil inside. Details are sketchy after this, as Trash has no memory of these events, or most of those to follow. Apparently Michael was passed from juvenile detention center to mental institution, being proclaimed a problem patient as he fought the other children, or on at least one occasion tried to set the building on fire. In March of 1991, faced with overcrowding, the state of New Hampshire was forced to release some of its patients to private care facilities. The hospital where Michael was staying was approached by an agent for the Evanston Clinic, a privately funded mental institution known for being very selective of the patients they would accept. Dr Lovecraft informed the state institute that he would take the boy on free of charge, and the state facility was only too happy to agree. Dr Lovecraft was intrigued by what appeared to be the two separate personalities forming in young Michael. One suffered from severe pyromania and seemed to live in fear of a "demon within", who would surface at his own will. This first personality, despite all his problems, was not the dangerous of the two. He displayed compassion, regret, and even a bit of humor. The other, though… The demon, as the other side called him. A pure psychopath. No remorse, no sympathy, no goodness at all. So the treatment began, ranging from hypnotherapy, to psychotherapy, to shock therapy. As months went by, Dr. Lovecraft tried everything. The results became curious indeed, with the arrival of a third personality. This mysterious third personality first manifested itself after a rather long session of electroshock therapy. For some reason, Michael was wearing an outlandishly cheerful smile. He would not speak, just sit there and grin, rocking back and forth emitting the occasional high pitch giggle. He finally fell asleep and woke up as the first personality again. The third personality would appear more often, in times of great stress, usually after bouts of electroshock. Instead of forming just one baseline personality, Lovecraft had in fact created another. By 1993, all three personalities had fully formed. That's when the mysterious funder of the Evanston Clinic stepped in... the evil supergenius himself, Alan Kriegman. Kriegman named the three personalites after the three fates, the first, pyromaniac personality being Clotho, the giggling buffoon being Lachesis, and the psychopath being Atropos. The names didn't stick however, as the personalities were given names by the guards and staff of the asylum. The first was called the Trashcan Man after trying to escape and holding off several guards with a trashcan that he had somehow lit on fire. The second was called Mr Smiley Face, due to the insane smiling and giggling. And the third was named Hannibal, after the character from Silence of the Lambs. In September of 93, Kriegman and Lovecraft started working on a chip to keep one personality in place and force the other two into dormancy. It also had a more sinister use... mind control. Kriegman was looking into using the Clotho personality as a human weapon, controlled by him and him alone. Lachesis of course was too silly to be of any use to him, and Atropos... made Kriegman nervous. He wasn't sure if he could control him. As he was beginning this phase of his experimentation, a bleeding heart group caught wind of the experimental nature of the treatments that went on in the Evanston Clinic. Alan Kriegman, not to be stopped by some tree huggers, did the one thing that would make this legal... he adopted Michael. No longer was the young man a ward of the state, instead he was the son of a man who was willing to subject his 'troubled child' to experimental therapy treatments in order to heal him of his mental afflictions. Thus having held off the hippies, Kriegman and Lovecraft got to work. They implanted the chip in December of 93, and began the next phase. The chip was designed to be powered by the body's bioelectric field, but would take some time to power up. These caused low grade migraines in Michael for most of 94. After it finally was activated, Lachesis and Atropos were locked down in a dormant state, leaving Clotho by himself and in control. Thus began a new round of hypno and electroshock therapy. This time Lachesis couldn't step in to take over, so Clotho was at Lovecraft and Kriegman's mercy. In 95 the process was complete, all the hypno triggers were set, the other personalites were submerged permanently, all that was left was for Kriegman to push the button. As he was waiting for the right time to unleash his weapon, he was called away on business. He came back to find the Evanston clinic destroyed, as if hit with a bomb. Later investigation would show that a gas main had been tampered with. Unknown to Kriegman, Michael, calling himself the Trashcan Man and with no memory of his life other than a few images of the experiments in the Evanston Clinic, had escaped. No one, including Trash, really knows what happened in the years between 95 and 2000, it's pretty much a vague blur, although Trash does think he probably set more than a few buildings on fire during that time. He somehow made his way into a small indy wrestling federation called CWF, based out of Pittsburgh. This was the outlet that he needed for his aggression. He found some success there, but quickly left the federation and went onto better things... PCW. Impressed by the Trashcan Man's sheer toughness, the Phantom Booker signed him to a contract immediately, not bothering to start him in the Primetime Indy Circuit that most newcomers had to come up through back then. And PCW is where the Trashcan Man found a home. Seeing some of the stranger folks be the brunt of assaults by the more popular wrestlers, Trash started gathering up the freaks of the federation and forming the beginnings of the now legendary stable, Asylum. Kriegman, who had also joined PCW in his bid to take over the world of professional wrestling, was shocked to see his experiment still alive. He was even MORE shocked to see Mr Smiley Face, the second personality appear after Trashcan Man was almost crushed to death by Lord Crom Griffin Dagoth in a trash compactor. He bided his time, seeing what his weapon could do without someone else at the helm. Trashy found a lot of success in PCW, becoming a fan favorite and having some epic feuds and matches culminating in two World title reigns. The second one was the victory over Jeremy 'Krayzie' Howard, Inphino Blitz, and 'The Scholar' Howard Porter at the result of the second ever PCW 64 man world title tourney. After defeating the three other men, the Trashcan Man was brutally assaulted by Ivan Stanislav and his Red Army. He was rescued by his new stable of friends, Old School, which consisted of Miyagawa, 'The Reverend' Jon Hull, Brock Newbludd, Ed Novak... and Alan Kriegman. Kriegman had worked his way into the fans good graces for this chance to get close to Trash, to make sure that his work was still there. He activated the chip, but as it had been dormant for five years, it needed to power up again. This once again caused the migraines, which Trash tried to counter with alcohol. He became a drunk, and lost his title in a three way dance with Ivan Stanislav and The Chef due to the betrayal of... you guessed it, Alan Kriegman. Trash fell into an alcoholic stupor. Anytime he'd show signs of life and try to return, Kriegman would crank up the chip, which cranked up the pain, forcing Trash back into the bottle. He even tried going to a new federation, following Doug Troy and Ed Novak to OSW, but again Kriegman forced him back to drinking. Finally, after the chip was powered up, Kriegman triggered it and started his new plan. Trashcan Man made a surprise return to OSW, as Ed Novak's mystery tag team partner against Alan Kriegman and Howard Porter. Alan forced Trash to turn on Ed and had Trash permanantly cripple him, Pyro Driving him off a stage and into the concrete 15 feet below. Kriegman then used the Do Not Resuscitate clause in Novak's will to pull the plug, legally murdering on of his most hated rivals. Kriegman and Trash, as well as the rest of the newly formed Think Tank, went on a rampage in OSW which was being countered by the now fan favorite Ivan Stanislav and the love of his life, Tempest. Tempest realized something wasn't right with the Trashcan Man, and finally helped break Kriegman's hold over him. In retaliation, Kriegman overloaded the chip, sending Trash into a coma. Mr Smiley Face came forth and began tormenting the evil supergenius, giving Trash time to heal the emotional scars of helping to kill one of his best friends. Trash finally came forth and defeated Kriegman in a Stairway to Hell match, winning the Presidency of OSW from Kriegman, as well as forcing Kriegman to relinquish Bob, the nail studded barbed wire wrapped steel chair that Ed Novak had left Trash in his will, and all the information that Kriegman had on Trash's history. Eventually OSW closed, and the Trashcan Man has been living the retired life in Chicago... until now.
