Wrestling Style: | Watching Ethan wrestle isn't dissimilar from watching the current crop of top indy stars and NWA X-Division standouts: he's technically sound, innovative, fearless and exciting. His strength is in his unpredictability/innovation and speed, above all. His arsenal is jammed with various suicidas and planchas to demonstrate his daredevil mentality. He also has a penchant for adding a slingshot to many more traditional moves to add leverage and impact.
Knight's an ambitious youth whose style can summarized in one word:
(Cue Matrix-style Keanu Reeves) Whoa.
Think any combination of AJ Styles, Jerry Lynn, Petey Williams, Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley, Frankie Kazarian, etc. He shines the most in bouts involving 3 or more men, breaking out big spot after big spot that leaves the crowd breathless and awe-struck afterward. Like Karina Wolfenden, he uses a lot of springboard attacks and doesn't slow down. If he breaks out a submission then it's likely some spontaneous, wild-looking rarity that no one else around does. His offense is chock-full of high-flying attacks and he has an apparent fetish for neckbreakers (seemingly out of homage to his mentor, Violence Jack, and his Detonator variations). Whereas his mentor could care less about popping the crowd or invoking awe in the audience, Ethan is the polar opposite and his array of flashy maneuvers properly depicts that. Such is one reason for nickname, 'The Infinite'; the nickname is derived from his seemingless endless arsenal of techniques. Whereas his aerial finisher is a 630 senton, he's also broken out a 540 backflip legdrop and corkscrew 450 in the past to the awe of the fans, just to give an idea what this guy is capable of.
Ethan is small in almost whatever company he works for, and as such he tends to be beaten around (and virtually twisted into a pretzel) like a rag-doll by the bigger men. His style is something of an obnoxious underdog who the fans love watching get beat up for his big mouth, but at the same time can't help but cheer for his comebacks. Also has an odd comedic side to his wrestling that I'll delve into another time. |
Finisher: | Cyclone Breaker; Cyclone Breaker '04; Knightfall
|
Finisher Description: | Cyclone Breaker -- Ethan sets his opponent in a front facelock and throws their near arm over his shoulder, as if for a suplex. He then spins quickly to the side, snapping the opponent down on his back in a swift spinning neckbreaker variation.
Cyclone Breaker '04 -- Updated version of the original. After applying the front facelock and throwing the victim's near arm across his shoulders, Ethan hoists up the opponent and slingshots their legs off the ropes as if for a slingshot suplex. As they bounce backward he twists his body and goes into an elevated version of the Cyclone Breaker that lends much more momentum and power to the move. Often he'll angle it so it resembles a neckbreaker/DDT combination.
Knightfall -- 630 senton splash |
Setup: | Typically any of his neckbreakers (out of homage to his mentor, Violence Jack, who also has an array of neckbreaker variations in his Detonator set) |
